Spring Edition 2007

March is Women's History Month
I have thought about the woman I most admire from history. I chose a woman
who lived during my lifetime, Jacklyn Bouvier Kennedy.

I remember the day her husband, John F Kennedy, was shot in Dallas. How
she held herself together and showed great courage, dignity, and grace. Not
many of us could do what she did in front of cameras and the world.

She was always graceful while in the White House. She was interested in
history and the history of the White House. She wanted Americans to know
what the history behind things was. The furniture and decorations were
carefully chosen by her to reflect the history of our nation and our leaders.

Mrs Kennedy wanted us to cherish and preserve the historic buildings of this
country, not tear them down to build another parking lot. She greatly helped
the historic preservation of many of our first cities.
